In a procedural language, the programmer must provide step by step instructions that tell the computer exactly how to solve a given problem. — В процедурном языке программист должен дать чёткие пошаговые инструкции, говорящие компьютеру о том, что нужно сделать, чтобы решить поставленную задачу

Syn:
imperative language. Язык программирования, с помощью которого программист описывает явным образом последовательность шагов (алгоритм решения), которые должны быть выполнены для получения результата. Процедурными языками являются, например, Ada, PL/1, Бейсик, Паскаль, Си, Фортран и многие др.
